Even out what sun and time left behind
Q-Switch laser at Skinline, Hyder Nagar, Kukatpally, targets pigmentation, dark spots and uneven skin tone using targeted laser energy to break down excess melanin — clearing gradually as your body naturally processes it.
How Q-Switch laser works
Q-Switch lasers deliver energy in extremely short pulses — measured in nanoseconds — that shatter pigment particles (melanin clusters) in the skin into smaller fragments. Your body’s own immune system then naturally clears these fragments over the following days and weeks, gradually fading the treated pigmentation. The same mechanism, at different settings, is also used for tattoo removal, breaking down ink particles for the body to clear.
Who should get Q-Switch laser
- You have sun spots, age spots, freckles, or other localised pigmentation
- You want to even out patchy or uneven skin tone caused by pigment, not shadow or hollowing
- You’re interested in tattoo removal (a related but distinct treatment plan)
- Your pigmentation is stable, not actively changing or spreading
A specific note on melasma
Melasma — a common form of patchy facial pigmentation, often linked to hormonal factors and sun exposure — is a special case.
Unlike simpler sun spots, melasma can sometimes worsen with aggressive laser treatment if the wrong approach or settings are used, since it’s more reactive to heat and inflammation.
This doesn’t mean melasma can’t be treated — it means it needs a more cautious, expert-led approach, often combined with other measures like sun protection and topical treatment, rather than assuming laser alone is the answer. Your consultation will assess whether your pigmentation is melasma specifically before recommending a plan.
Who should consider alternatives, or wait
- A recent tan or active sun exposure in the treatment area increases risk of complications — wait until skin returns to its normal tone
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active skin infection in the treatment area
- Melasma needs a specific, cautious assessment rather than standard pigmentation treatment — see note above
- A history of keloid scarring needs careful assessment
- If your dark circles are the concern, rather than facial pigmentation generally, confirm with your consultation whether hollowing (better suited to Tear Trough Treatment) or true pigmentation is the actual cause — or start with Dark Circles Treatment for a diagnostic answer
The benefits: why choose Q-Switch laser
Targeted and Effective
Precisely addresses pigmented areas without affecting surrounding skin.
Quick Sessions
Most sessions are brief, even for larger treatment areas.
Minimal Downtime
Most people resume normal activities the same or next day.
Versatile
The same technology also treats unwanted tattoos.
What to expect: the procedure
Topical numbing may be used depending on the treatment area and your sensitivity. Most pigmentation concerns need 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart; tattoo removal typically needs significantly more sessions, depending on the ink’s size, colour and depth.
Downtime & aftercare
Treated pigment often appears temporarily darker, and may develop a light frosting or fine scab, in the days immediately after treatment — this is an expected part of the process, not a complication, as the treated pigment works its way to the skin’s surface and flakes away. Sun protection is essential in the weeks following treatment, since freshly treated skin is more vulnerable to further pigment changes.
What affects the cost
Cost depends on the treatment area size, the number of spots or extent of pigmentation, and the number of sessions needed. Tattoo removal is priced separately, based on the tattoo’s size and complexity. Your consultation includes a personalised assessment and quote.
Why Skinline for Q-Switch laser
Correctly identifying what’s actually causing your pigmentation — sun damage, melasma, or something else — matters more here than with almost any other treatment, since the wrong approach for melasma specifically can make things worse, not better.
At Skinline, every Q-Switch treatment plan starts with a proper assessment by dermatologists with 10+ years of experience each.
